Rec of the Week:
This has been really difficult: So many AoS people are taking part in the Snowflake Fandom Challenge, and one of the challenges is to rec three fanworks. So I've picked from those recs one in part of the AoS fandom that we don't see much of these days, the Sharpe fandom. The rec is from [personal profile] latin_cat who had this to say: Why I'm recommending this: This had the honour of being the first ever fanvid created for this pairing; there still aren't that many. It's a brilliant vid, very clever in its use of the song lyrics and the footage, and suits the tone of this series perfectly.

Fanvid: Jolene by [personal profile] le_russe_satan; Sharpe; PG-13; Sharpe/Wellington, Sharpe/Teresa; Wellington is afraid how easily he could lose a hold on Sharpe's affections.

This was posted in the wake of a discussion about the phenomenon of the Mary-Sue. Maybe I should say 're-posted', it isn't a new fic, although it hadn't been posted before, to my knowledge. The lady who wrote this isn't known for being active in writing fanfic, although she is very active in fandom circles, as a member of the Horatians forum. Time by pronetopanic; Hornblower; G; Hornblower, the Kennedy family; something in the deeps of her soul still saw the frail wooden jetty and the little ‘pirate ship’, the sail-boat which their father had placed upon the lake for their use, and the boys in their bicornes, leaping on and off like buccaneers. All gone now… all vanished like the songbirds in the velvet dusk, stolen by time.

Rec of the Week:
I'd like to link you to the place where AoS fandom started for me: Horatians. Unfortunately, they had a DNS attack recently which necessitated a server move and meant that they lost a lot of data, but the community is second to none. And this week, it's two for the price of one: In Flanders' Fields by [personal profile] latin_cat, Sharpe, PG, Sharpe/Wellington, The 33rd in Flanders.

Got a link for the next issue? Please comment and let us know. And please tell your AoS friends about us. The more, the merrier, after all!
